i wanna be that girl
the planner season is upon us once again and once again i wanna get a planner. this time last year i got an undated weekly insert for my regular size traveler's notebook (tn). unfortunately, this insert was not the right fit for me and lasted about three months before i fully stopped using it. the main issue was that for my small handwrighting and the amount of stuff i needed to put down it was just too big. i also just got kinda bored of it, should have put more effort into decorating it i think.
after about a month or two with just my google calendar, in january i decided to get a simple dot grid insert and do planning bullet journal style. this surprisingly worked until mid june, when the semester ended and i didn't really need to plan much. i wrote down some stuff for my trip to the uk in july but after that it just took up space in my tn setup. it became pretty uncomfortable to write in my journal insert because of the extra bulk so now my bujo insert just lies forgotten.
could i come back to my bullet journal insert for the new semester? probably. however, similarly to the undated insert, i just don't really want to. it's the same big size, though that's easier to deal with since it's a bujo, but it's also not decorated much. i know that there's a big part of the bullet journalling community that hates pretty bullet journals and calls them unfunctional but for me, if it isn't pretty, if i didn't put effort into the looks, i'm not so inclined to use it.
so i'm thinking of getting a hobonichi. this year some shops around me seem to be stocking this brand, so after years of yearning for one i might get a weeks or weeks mega. the shop where i might even be able to get a look at them in person doesn't seem to be stocking any covers for this type, which is good, because the notebooks themselves are already quite expensive. honestly, the price of the notebook is making me a bit torn. on one hand, maybe it'll force me to use it more since i'd pay so much money for it. on the other, if i stop using it after three months that'll be a lot of money for nothing.
however, the hobonichi weeks i'm looking at is the sheep sheep sheep one and it's so adorable! plus, the weeks is a lot smaller than a regular size tn insert, and the grid is smaller, perfect for my handwriting. i have some tomoe river paper lying around as well so i think i'll like the paper, most of my fountain pen inks that i regularly use don't seem to smudge on it. and well, i wanna be that girl that has a paper planner, and i wanna be part of this community (aka fomo), and buying stationery is one of my favourite things. (yeah, i know the last few of those reasons are silly, but...)
so anyway, now to decide if i want the regular weeks or the mega, the price difference at least at the shop i'm looking at is negligible, but i don't know if i need the extra 140 pages. or maybe i might not get anything at all, maybe i'll change my mind or people will buy them out before i get the chance. i do have still about two days since the sale is supposed to go live so we will see.
