i love playing Minecraft again!
my youtube home page has struck again, this time with an actually life changing video. the thumbnail says "i'm sick of mob farms" and the title reads "Minecraft punishes casual players. I made a datapack to fix it."
i've been playing minecraft for years now (as have most people, my internet bubble makes me assume). main thing for me has been a survival world that i've had for about 4.5 years now. i got a bit bored of that world last winter, so i started a new one.
i've since realized that starting a new world is such a chore. gathering all the resources which are especially tedious to get in the begining is just so boring. what really doesn't help is how ineffective everything is unless you build a farm.
now the last time i've really dabbled in any more complex redstone was like 10 years ago nor do i know any of the game mechanics enough to successfully exploit them, so to build a farm i need to get a tutorial and copy it. not exactly what i'd call fun. also wrangling villagers has been the most annoying thing in the game for years now so why is it the most effective way to get a steady income of various items in the game!?
so here comes the aforementioned video. i was instantly hooked! steadier mob drops, new items, new armor sets that are actually worth using, enchanting gone, villager breeding and wrangling gone and you don't even have to confine them to a cell for efficient trading! you also don't lose all your stuff if you die! now i'll actually be able to use the cool stuff i make without fear of losing it! the texture pack is really pretty as well, i love the flower redesign especially.
the progression is slightly different too, which i've found so refreshing! i believe this is the first time i've ever actually used the advancements for their intended purpose. i also really like just cooking stuff instead of going online and looking up potion recipies. what do you mean i just put a couple of pumpkins in an oven, then add sugar and a bottle and i get 10 minutes of resistance? and the curries are so useful too.
so anyway, go play the Matcha Flavoured datapack, it's really fun!
